What to expect from your appointment

Your first consultation will involve taking a detailed case history of any current symptoms and a previous medical history. This enables us to find out about your lifestyle and any previous injuries that could be contributing to the current issue. This will be followed by a physical examination, including relevant neurological and orthopedic testing to determine the cause of your symptoms.

From that we will diagnose and devise a comprehensive treatment plan, talking through any findings with you, answering any questions and explaining which techniques will be used and the likely length of your treatment plan. If your chiropractor suspects that you  may have a more serious health problem, they will refer you back to your GP for further medical investigation.

Treatment isn't normally painful, but some people can experience a bit of discomfort. Chiropractic is generally very safe when performed correctly by a trained and registered chiropractor and the gentle manual approaches we use are extremely safe and comfortable to receive. Some people may experience side effects from treatment, such as: aches and pains, stiffness, tiredness. This will be discussed with you in your aftercare plan following your treatment.

The initial consultation will last between 60-90 minutes and will include a treatment (unless there is a diagnostic reason not to).

Follow up appointments will last 30 minutes.

Reassessment appointments will be 45 minutes. These are for patients presenting with a new pain complaint or who have not received chiropractic care from Darwell Chiropractic in over a year.

If you are not sure whether chiropractic can help you, please get in touch.
We will be able to talk to you about any existing injuries or discomfort you might be experiencing and will be happy to discuss whether Chiropractic is the right choice for you.
